About

“What should young people do with their lives today? Many things, obviously. But the most daring thing is to create stable communities in which the terrible disease of loneliness can be cured.” – Kurt Vonnegut, Jr

Hi there!

We’re the artists from the community at Save the Artist and we want to see you create. It is our quest to be the artists in the remarkable minority – the ones who are remembered for making a difference and being an example to the artistic world. It’s really that simple.

The artists in our remarkable minority create new works and hone our craft day in and day out, hoping to change the perception about art and professionalism, to finally differentiate ourselves from the bad art that runs rampant through our community.

You’re probably wondering about our own story and how this all started. Short version – we’re a group of artists who grew tired and frustrated of great art and artists getting passed over in favor of something that can hang on the wall of a hotel room.

During a get together one night, the conversation began with how a local restaurant called their employees “artists” despite the food looking like something from a public school cafeteria. This lead to the inevitable, “Well, what about…” as we tried to top each other in finding the most outlandish so-called “artists.” Yeah, sometimes we fall into that I’m-going-to-one-up-you-with-my-story trap.

While the growing trend is to call everyone an artist and their work art, we believe in sifting through and finding those that truly are worth those titles. We do this because we know how important art is. We do this to help you to become a voice that speaks of the better way to create. We do this because a remarkable minority of artists can change the world.

If you like Save the Artist, tell a friend. Tweet an article. Share a link. We’ll appreciate it tremendously.

We hope you’re inspired by what you see, hear, and read here. And more importantly, we want you to be a part of our community and join us in our mission to create something that will change the way we see art in this world.
